Trojan Horse Legislature
They say it’s really just to battle child pornography and online sexual exploitation. Of course we all would agree to actions taken against those who perpetrate atrocious crimes against our youth.
It’s called the EARN IT ACT of 2020. You can also call it by it’s slightly more telling name, “Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies Act of 2020“. And if you are a more curius citizen than others, you can read the even more telling description:
“To establish a National Commission on Online Child Sexual Exploitation Prevention, and for other purposes.”
Wow, really? And what other purposes might that be?
Read the EFF article!
The EFF, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, “the leading nonprofit defending digital privacy, free speech, and innovation“, has an excellent article on this, and I recommend you read it promptly.
Come back, though, so you can send a communications to your Representatives to tell them how you feel about this sneaky bill!
In short, this bill, as written, will violate our 1st Amendment (freedom of speech) and our 4th Amendment (prohibits unreasonable search and seizure) rights.
We need to tell our Representatives and Senators that they cannot inject inconspicuous law into bills because it is immoral. Another matter for another day…
Let’s tell them what we think about this:
